How to make Treacle and Marmite Butter and Walnut Pesto



Treacle and Marmite Butter Ingredients

250g of unsalted butter

50g of toasted walnuts

10g of Marmite

15g of black treacle

A pinch of salt

Splash of sherry vinegar

Walnut Pesto Ingredients

100g of toasted walnuts

20g of parmesan

1 tsp of honey

2 cloves of black garlic

1/2 clove of fresh garlic

2 tbsp of olive oil

4 tbsp of sunflower seed oil

1 tsp of wholegrain mustard

A pinch of salt

Splash of sherry vinegar


Part One: Treacle and Marmite Butter


Step one: Chop up 50g toasted walnuts

Step two: Add 250g butter to chopped walnuts

Step three: Add 10g Marmite

Step four: Add 15g treacle

Step five: Mix

Step six: Add a pinch of salt and give it another mix

Step seven: Add a splash of sherry vinegar

Step eight: Whip the mixture until it’s pale, fluffy and creamy


Part Two: Walnut Pesto


Step one: Peel and chop ½ clove of garlic

Step two: Throw chopped garlic and 2 cloves of black garlic into a pestle and mortar

Step three: Grate 20g of parmesan

Step four: Add half of the grated parmesan and walnuts to a pestle and mortar

Step five: Mash all ingredients into a paste

Step six: Transfer paste into a mixing bowl

Step seven: Add 2 tbsp olive oil, 4 tbsp sunflower oil, salt, 1 tsp mustard, 1 tsp honey, splash of sherry vinegar, and the remainder of the parmesan to the bowl

Step eight: Chop up walnuts

Step nine: Add the walnuts to the bowl

Step ten: Whisk the mixture thoroughly
